   Expanding By Contracting

Tenant/Interior Fit Out

National Association of Home Builders
Washington, DC

OWNER: National Association of Home Builders

ARCHITECT: Lee/Sallee Architects

CONTRACT AMOUNT: $6 million

The building being the national center for NAHB, Monarc constructed 7 floors of tenant office spaces, equaling approximately 175,000 sf.  Included in the 6 month fast track project were executive offices, conference rooms and television production/editing rooms.  Also as an addition to the challenge to the schedule, Monarc was requested to completely construct all sectional offices and cubicles on site, versus what would have typically been prefabricated modular offices.  Tens of thousands of lineal feet of hardwood and glazing were brought in to custom fabricate the interior walls of the offices.

British Aerospace Engineering Systems

CONTRACT AMOUNT: $ 1.5 million

Along with a surge from BAE Systems into the national defense market, Monarc was asked to provide a fresh face-lift to the 1960’s office building, BAE Systems North American Headquarters.  One of several phases, Monarc’s focus on this particular phase was to renovate and update the lobby, first floor and main entrance from the main parking lot. The lobby was stripped of its dated finishes and provided with a new main stair case, new reception desk, lighting, graphics and finishes. The first floor was converted from old testing laboratories and offices to new offices and conference rooms with state of the art teleconferencing and communication equipment.  All conference rooms were equipped with specialized sound deadening equipment, materials and construction. The main steps/entrance from the parking was removed and replaced with a new masonry and tiled wall.  The new design incorporated handicap access, new landscaping and more dynamic entrance way into the new lobby of the building.
